Curly Girl Guide | Tips to Keep Your Hair Looking Great

Curly Girl Guide

Keeping your curly hair looking great everyday does not have to be a chore. Below are a few tips to keeping curly hair manageable and easier to maintain daily.

  • Cover It Up

To keep the conditioner from getting all over you and let it warm up a bit, slip on a shower cap. (I take them from hotel rooms when I travel.) You can also wrap your hair in plastic wrap or a warm, damp towel. Keep this on for at least 15 minutes.

  • Use a T-Shirt

Drying your hair with a T-Shirt will greatly reduce frizz and breakage after washing. Since shirts aren’t as absorbent, gently squeeze your hair out before drying but never twist it.

  • Pro Tip:

Always apply product when hair is damp dried yet still mostly wet.

  • Say No To Brushes

Brushing can damage fragile curls. Opt for finger-combing or a wide-toothed comb instead. This makes it much easier to detangle and spread the product evenly. Plus you will use less product but get better results.

  • Refresh Your Curls

Use a moisturizing spray to keep your hair looking great in between using a conditioner. Try to use a spritz with natural ingredients.

  • Wear a Cap at Night

Use a satin sleep cap when you sleep to control the frizz and minimize the time it takes to style your hair in the morning.

  • Don’t Wash It Everyday

Wash your hair only once or twice a week to allow the natural oils to soak in and the curls will be more defined.

  • Use a Leave-In Conditioner

To maintain those curls use a leave-in conditioner that you can use daily. A leave in treatment is commonly applied after completing your hair washing routine. Your hair needs to be damp to provide all the benefits it can offer. Use a small amount focusing on the ends and other dry areas.

That’s it for now. If you have any tips for hair care , please comment below.
