I have completed my fasting diet with great results! I lost a total of 12 lbs in 15 days, exciting isn’t it! The purpose of my fast was more than just weight loss. It was to internally cleanse my body by ridding it of waste and filling it with nutrients.
Well, My 15 days of fasting ended on March 1, 2017. During the first 7 days of fasting, I ate only vegetables and fruit then followed up with adding whole grains and fiber rich proteins such as avocados and beans during the last 15 days.
The next step is maintaining the weight and staying focus on eating healthy plant-base foods. This is the reason why I decided to pursue a healthy vegan diet and partake a holistic lifestyle. Every part of my life will be focused on my overall health and life.
So Why Did I Decide To Become A Vegan?
I chose to eat a plant-based diet which is basically vegan. Plant-based foods are natural, filled with vitamins and nutrients, plus you can get your protein source from beans, whole grains, vegetables, and nuts. The options are endless with what I can cook! Most of all, people who eat strictly plant-based foods live longer, are healthier and have nearly no health problems as they age!
Animal base products are usually high in cholesterol and bad fats. Studies have also shown over the years that those whose eat animal based products (eggs, cheese, beef, chickens etc) as their primary source of protein were at high risk of heart disease, and cancer.
Processed foods should also be avoided if your goal is to live a healthier life. Processed foods (boxed meals, can soups, microwave meals, frozen pizza etc) are loaded with sodium and sugars which can lead to high blood pressure, diabetes, and other diseases if consumed over long periods of time.
